New Exhibition in 2015

DCFI0123 copy

I’m going to have my first exhibit in 2015 at the gallery in Georgies Ceramic and Clay Co. in Portland, Oregon. They provide, not only products that potters need but also have various hands-on classes that are taught by experienced local potters. I often get inspired from their huge selections of clays and glazes. It is like a ceramic artists’ wonderland: I can easily loose track of my time while there.

The show will run from January 23 to March 10 and the opening reception will be held on Saturday, January 24, from 2PM – 4PM.

Georgies Ceramic and Clay Co. is located at 756 NE Lombard, Portland, Oregon and they’re open Monday through Saturday, from 9AM – 5PM.

My first show in 2014

_1000340-Edit - Version 2

I will show three of my sculptures in the exhibition, “penumbra: a partial or imperfect shadow”, at Gallery 114 in Portland, Oregon. This is a juried, multi-media exhibition, and its concept is to embrace the season by displaying works that feature a palette that uses mostly blacks, grays, and whites.

Gallery 114 was founded in 1990 as an artists’ collective and is located in Portland’s Pearl District, which is known for its upscale art galleries, restaurants, and boutiques.

The exhibit’s opening and artist reception will be held on Thursday, January 2, which is part of Portland’s First Thursday Gallery Walk, 6 :00 – 9:00 pm, and the show will run until Saturday, February 1, 2014.

Galley 114 is located at: 1100 NW Glisan St. Portland, OR 97209, and their business hours are Thursday through Sunday, 12pm – 6pm.

Enigmatic Presence – slideshow

When my sculptures are completed, they are professionally photographed and the images are stored in my computer. Although I am not computer savvy, one day, just for fun, I started to play around and altered the images of my work with the easiest application available: iPhoto. To my surprise, the sculptures were then transformed into different impressions of themselves! I wanted to share my experimentation with the audience so I created this slideshow. The video below is the short version, which is now on YouTube.

Featured Artist in Combustus Online Magazine

My interview was featured in the Combustus Online Magazine, whose mission is to ignite the global community through exploration of the arts and features visual artists, writers, musicians, dancers, and other creative and free thinkers.

The magazine was launched by Deanna Piowaty who is a passionate believer in the healing and redemptive of power of art. A magazine journalist, formerly Assistant Producer of the PBS series, California Working and contributor to several publications involving the arts and healing, she has experienced first-hand how the creative wisdom can transform both artist and audience.

It is very stimulating and inspiring to know how other creative people think and how they apply it to their work, and the work of the featured artists in the magazine is all very impressive and unique.

I appreciate being featured at a site that supports the arts and I hope that my work and my thoughts will help inspire others as well.
